6 Steps To Create a Pastel French Tip Manicure At Home

Pastel nails are the biggest trend this summer but one style that has taken the summer by storm is the pastel french tip. Instead of covering the whole nail in colour, the pastel colour is added to the tips only and people have been getting very creative. We’ve seen multicoloured pastel tips, split colours on the same tip, gradients of colour and different shapes of colour. And we love them all. Here we help you recreate this style at home in five easy steps.

Step 1 - Prep the cuticles

Using a cuticle pusher, gently push back the cuticles. Nip any non living cuticles using a cuticle clippers.

Step2 - Prep the nail plate

Apply acetone to a cotton pad and wipe the nail plate to remove any oils and to temporarily dehydrate the nail.

Step 3 - Apply Neglige

Apply two layers of CND Vinylux Negligee. This is the perfect base to a french polish look.

Step 4 - Apply pastel

Choose the pastel colour or colours you want to apply. If your nails have length, use your natural white tip as a guide and fill it in with polish. If your nails are shorter, use a wafer thin nail brush to create the tip. You will need a steady hand to apply the tip. To do this, rest your elbow on a hard, flat surface. You can use your cuticle stick to help make a perfect curve. If you make any mistakes, you can easily correct it by soaking another wafer thin brush in acetone and then remove any smudges.

Step 5 - Apply top coat

Once the nail tip has dried, apply a layer of CND Vinylux Top Coat for a perfect finish. Allow to dry for 10 minutes.

Step 6 - Rehydrate the nail plate

Apply Creative Hands Nail Treatment Oil to nails, cuticles and hands.
