“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret”
Happy New Year Everyone!
I thought I would begin the year with a wonderful quote from Jim Rohn. It may help anyone who is finding the January blues have kicked in. So many people have set their goals for the months ahead and start the year with a great mindset to be fully committed to achieving them.
While many find it super motivating to set goals and tick off each one as achieved others struggle or very quickly become demotivated and allow self sabotage to set in. So we eat the sweets, miss the exercise class, overspend and so on.
Jim Rohn's quote is something that resonated with me.
My understanding is you can feel the pain of discipline by not eating sweets but at least you won't regret it or you can eat the sweets and feel the pain of regret after.
You can avoid the pain of discipline and spend money on fancy clothes or cars right now but regret it later or you can avoid the pain of regret by having the discipline to save and invest your money now so it will grow and you can spend it more wisely later.
While discipline is painful it is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.
It takes discipline to conquer the nagging voices in our minds however with constant discipline applied to all areas of our lives, we can uncover unique possibilities and opportunities.
The choice is yours. Which pain will you choose?
I hope this helps anyone struggling to stay motivated.
