Creative Hands: Skincare Advice

If you are experiencing dehydrated skin you are not alone. It is the most common skin type this time of year due to weather conditions and our heating systems. We have put together some tips to help you get that healthy glow. This month dedicate time to your selfceare. Fall in love with your body.

1. Exfoliate.

Skin sheds daily, about 10 billion skin cells to be accurate. Gentle exfoliation will remove the layer of dead skin cells that are on the surface of the skin. Gentle exfoliation allows new fresh and healthy skin cells to reach the surface leading to a brighter complexion.

2.Choose the right cleansers.

Avoid soap based cleansers and body wash and opt for creamy alternatives. If you have sensitive skin avoid perfumed products or ones that contain alcohol marked as CD, Denatured or Isopropyl, as these can irritate and dehydrate the skin.

Apply moisturiser or serum day and night. To lock in moisture pat dry skin and apply when still damp. Look for moisturiser containing Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to sooth and hydrate.

4. Products for skin types.

Oil based products offer a protective layer against weather conditions that water based products don't. Saying that people with oily skin should avoid oily based products as this can lead to breakouts.

5. Self Tan can be drying

Although we all love our tan in the winter as much as we do in the summer, it can be drying on the skin. So moisturising and drinking plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated especially when wearing tan.

7. Diet and Sleep.

Eating nutritionally healthy foods full of Vitamin E, minerals and antiaging anti oxidants not only benefits your health but your skin too. To help keep skin well hydrated aim to drink 2-3 litres of water a day. Sleep also plays a part in keeping the skin looking well , as we sleep our body has the chance to renew and repair the skin cells. Try aim for 6-8 hours of sleep a night. They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing!
